Do you ever feel out balance? Like you’re constantly striving, but never satisfied. Me, too. I’ve been trying to find a way to move through live with contentment and a sense of purpose. To feel like I’m making meaningful progress.
I started this blog to begin crystallizing my thoughts on practical ways to move toward the life I want. Not just nice ideas, but actionable ones. Reflection and thoughtfulness is needed, sure. But, the key is putting things into action.
To me, the phrase “Productively Aligned” refers to a state where the different aspects of your life are all working together in a coordinated way. To me, this feels key to finding peace and purpose, while also feeling that you’re moving forward on things that matter. When things are “productively aligned,” life feels balanced and manageable.
Here, the “alignment” aspect is primarily in reference to how well your goals and actions are related to your core values. Often, people chase goals because they were told those goals were worthwhile, but never really paused to consider if that goal was a fit for them. By taking the time to 1) identify your core values (really, not just the ones you think you should have) and then 2) identify the goals and behaviors that support those values, the likelihood of finding satisfaction along the journey and at the destination is increased.
The productive part is rooted in my appreciation for working efficiently and with purpose. I only have so much energy in a given day (and so do you), so it’s important that I put that energy toward things that will be effective. For me, this can mean technology, habits, or building systems to support my efforts.
By putting these concepts together, you’re able to pursue the right goals for you in a way that aligns with how you best operate, and with the support of tools and systems that will help you make consistent progress.
